 9/27/21 - Construction Update

UPDATES:

SURVEY STAKES:  Today at the Yellowstone Project Construction meeting, MSA reported an additional 120 hours’ worth of labor has been required due to re-staking survey resulting from property owners removing original survey stakes.  Property owners are reminded not to remove any survey/other stakes; stakes need to be kept in place until the end of the construction period.   The additional survey work is nearly double what was originally budgeted.

Grass Mats:   Do not pull up the grass mats that were put down as part of the restoration on your property; these mats are biodegradable and need to stay in place to assure grass seeding becomes permanent; pulling up the mats may result in poor grass establishment; also, it is recommended not to mow the new seeding, again to assure grass seeding is well established.

MAILBOXES:  As the construction project is nearing completion now is the time for property owners to consider whether they want to replace their old mailbox & post.   If this is something property owners decide to do, you should purchase a new mailbox and post soon, assemble the unit, and have it ready for the contractor to install.   Yes, the project contractor will install your mailbox as one of the final tasks of the project.  Property owners are advised NOT to consider installing mailbox units themselves.  All mailboxes will be consistently installed per US Postal Service regulations.

Construction Activities:  Beginning this week, concrete curb work is scheduled for those areas designed for such.  Topsoil restoration will continue.  Rough grading of base aggregate will take place.

The week of October 4-8 fine grading of the base aggregate will occur with street paving scheduled.  An update on construction activities for this time will be sent late next week.

All construction activities are weather dependent; as of this update, the construction company estimates being ahead of schedule by one week.

Please continue to use alternative access routes as much as possible.   Lanae and Third Streets are open to Yellowstone Drive.   Follow detour signs.

 9/14/21 - Construction Update

Construction Activities This Week

The contractor is continuing the replacement of manholes west of Main Street.  Work on the road base along this stretch will occur.

Yellowstone Drive will not be passable at times around 1st and 2nd Streets; one of these streets will be open to Yellowstone at all times.

On Wednesday excavation near the Lutheran Church cemetery will begin; a representative from the Wisconsin Historical Society will be present during the excavation to assure there is no disturbance to the cemetery.

Please use alternative access routes as much as possible this week.   Lanae and Third Streets are open to Yellowstone Drive.   Follow detour signs.

REMINDER:   Do not remove any survey/other stakes in your yards; stakes need to be kept in place until the end of the construction period.   Stakes that are removed must be replaced which results in additional construction cost.

 8/30/21 - Construction Update

Construction Update:

Yellowstone will be closed to ALL traffic between 4th Street and 3rd Street today (Monday) through probably Wednesday.  Switlick is replacing a manhole today and will progress East toward 3rd Street tomorrow.  The goal is to have 3rd Street open to Yellowstone when they start on the end by Main Street.

 8/26/21 - Construction Update

Construction Activities TODAY

The contractor plans to install a small culvert at the 4th Street & Yellowstone intersection today including prep the intersection with rock and road base to reopen Yellowstone to the west.  This work will cause COMPLETE closure of both Yellowstone and 4th Street during this process.  If all goes well with this work, the contractor will try to also replace the manhole between 4th and 3rd Streets.

Progress is dependent on the weather.

The Village Board appreciates everyone’s cooperation during this construction project.  Thank you to all!

 8/18/21 - Construction Update

Construction Activities during the Coming Weeks:

Construction crews started earlier this week on driveway restoration for properties where culverts and
ditching have been completed. Restoration includes placing topsoil and grass seeding, etc. The
restoration along completed driveways will continue in the forthcoming days weather permitting and
while awaiting materials needed for manhole work.

Once the manhole materials are delivered, construction will continue east of 7th Street working
towards 4th Street which will cause closure of Yellowstone to through traffic. Once construction
reaches 4th Street intersection, 4th Street will also be closed to traffic. Residents will need to use
11th Street to come in and/or exit the Village as there will be no access off County Trunk T except to 1st
and 2nd Streets.

Residents are requested to limit the use of Yellowstone Drive as much as possible. Please let any visitors
know that construction is ongoing and alternate routes should be used.

Advanced Disposal has been skirting the ongoing Yellowstone Drive construction and picking up
garbage/recycling weekly; this will soon be discontinued with the contractor taking over…if your
garbage/recycling is not picked up at any time (by late afternoon on Wednesdays) let the contractor
know for quick pickup.

Construction progress is going well this week with the nice weather.

The Village Board appreciates everyone’s cooperation during this construction project. Thank you to all!

 7/15/21 - Construction Update

Construction Activities this week:

Construction activities scheduled for this week include trees, shrubs, and stumps removal, and black dirt excavation in ditches.  Sewer laterals will be installed on lots where there is not currently a lateral.  Weather permitting, excavation and upgrading road base between 11th and 8th streets will begin. We Energies continues working on service lines with the expectation to finish the natural gas line work. Turf restoration will be done where digging occurred for the areas not in the Yellowstone reconstruction zone. Old blacktop pavement on Yellowstone was removed earlier in the week.

  • Mailboxes – Resident mailboxes were pulled with mail delivery now at mailboxes located at Village Administration Building parking lot.
  • Newspaper Delivery: Residents receiving daily newspapers should alert the Marshfield News-Herald to deliver your newspaper at the Admin Bldg. (mailbox location); currently there are some Newspaper boxes attached to mailboxes.
  • Reminder Garbage/Recycling – Yellowstone Residents should continue to take garbage/recycling containers as usual to the end of their driveway for pickup on Wednesdays. The contractor is planning to take care of garbage/recycling during the construction months.

REMINDERS:

  • Flags – Many yards have numerous flags or stakes.  Please do not remove any of these.  As the project progresses, flags or stakes no longer needed will be removed by village or construction staff.
  • Yellowstone Drive Street Traffic: The contractor and his workers have expressed concerns about drivers going too fast on Yellowstone Drive during the time they are working and exercising a lack of safety precautions. The seriousness of this may lead to Yellowstone being closed during the time work is being done. Delays will be common. The Village Board requests your patience and carefulness when traveling on Yellowstone Drive during the construction to avoid closing the street. In addition, please be respectful of the private driveway for the residence on the west corner of 11th Street and Yellowstone (not a village residence).  Please do not use their driveway…barricades had to be put in place due to drivers using their driveway.
