 How do I get a building permit?

 How do I get a burning permit?

The Village of Hewitt does not allow any open burning other than recreational fires in approved campfire pits.  The Town of Marshfield does allow open burning with a valid permit.  To obtain a burning permit, contact the Hewitt Area Fire Department.  For more information, visit this page.

 How do I license my dog?

To license your dog, complete the Dog License application form and return it to the Village Clerk.  For more information and a link to the form, visit this page.

 How do I rent the Village Hall or the Park Pavillion?

 Do I need burning permit? Even for recreational fires?

The Village of Hewitt does not allow any open burning other than recreational fires in approved campfire pits.  If you are planning on having a campfire pit for recreational fires, please complete the online fire pit inspection application.

 How do I sign up for softball or volleyball?

 Is there a library in Hewitt?

While there is no public library in Hewitt, residents can access the services of the Marshfield Public Library at no charge.

 What kind of information is available for new residents?

A new resident brochure is delivered to all new residents of the Village.  The brochure is also available here.

 What day does garbage and recycling get picked up?

 What is the schedule for brush/leaf pickup?

There is no scheduled brush and leaf pickup.  Hewitt residents are encouraged to compost, but can choose to take yard waste to Marshfield's compost site on Hume Ave.

 Where do I vote?

The polling place for Village of Hewitt residents is the Town of Marshfield Hall, located on Main Street.  For more information, visit this page.

 Who runs the Village Government?

Citizens of the Village elect a Village President to oversee the operations of the Village.  They also elect a board of four trustees.  To learn more about the Village Board, visit this page.  In addition to the Village Board, there are numerous committees that work on various aspects of Village operations and present recommendations to the Village Board.  To learn more about the various committees, visit this page.

 Why is there no parking on certain Village streets?

Many of the Village streets are not wide enough for vehicles to park on both sides and allow for safe passage of public safety and service vehicles (buses, garbage trucks, fire trucks, ambulances, etc.).  Future development of wider streets with curb, gutter and storm sewers can help eliminate those concerns.  For more information, see Ordinance 19.01 Parking.
