Public Safety & Welfare Committee

Purpose: It is the duty of the Hewitt Public Safety and Welfare Committee to address public safety and welfare issues, maintain village street lights. It is the duty of the Animal Control Officer to impound stray dogs, attempt to locate owners of stray dogs, and dispose of unclaimed animals after an appropriate time period.

    

Functions:

• Address public safety and welfare issues.
• Conduct building safety inspections, vacant, dilapidated building issues.
• Review Village street light system, review resident requests for additional street lights, make recommendations for additions per guidelines.
