Softball & Volleyball

The Hewitt softball program started in 1985 when a few parents organized summer evening softball games for area children. That first year, eighty-nine children participated.  We have had as many as 500+ children participating in t-ball, softball, and volleyball.  The majority of them have been from the Village of Hewitt and the City of Marshfield, but children from twenty other municipalities also participate.  This summer program is run by volunteers and supported by area businesses, which sponsor teams and provide monetary and merchandise donations.

   

Summer League Information

  • We play on Tuesday nights late May through July.  There is a tournament, which immediately follows the end of the league season and is on Friday night and Saturday (with a rain date of Sunday).
  • The age cut-off is September 1st.  This means the age of the child on September 1st determines which league they can sign up for.
  • The 12-14 year-old league is the only league that holds practice.  Coaches will reach out to parents for practice dates and times once the teams are set near the beginning of May.
  • Games start each night at 5:30 PM.  Different teams play at different times every game night. 
  • Schedules are emailed in early May.
  • If the games need to be canceled due to weather, an email will be sent and a message will be posted on the Village Facebook page.  There are no rain makeup dates for games canceled on Tuesday nights.
  • Parents are expected to volunteer.  The success of this program depends on our volunteers.

  

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The members of the Hewitt Area Recreation Department are all volunteers and there is no cost for membership.  Meetings are usually held the third Tuesday of each month, February through August, at 6:30 PM at the Hewitt Village Administrative Building (formerly Pioneer Bank) or at the Yellowston Recreation Park.  Come join and be part of a wonderful youth program in the Village of Hewitt.
   

This program runs off volunteers.  To be successful, it is crucial that volunteers help out.  Please consider helping in an area that works for you.  Some opportunities include coaching a 12-14 team, umping 12-14, base coaching the younger groups, helping pitch in the younger groups, and concessions.  We are also looking for a couple of people to help run the 7-8 age group.  Please indicate on the registration form what you are willing ot help with or reach out via email with questions or for more information.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION 

The 2026 Tournament will be held on Friday, July 31th and Saturday, August 1st (with a rain date of Sunday, August 2nd, if needed).

  

SCHEDULES 
The 2026 Softball and Volleyball League will run on Tuesday nights from June 2nd to July 28th.  Schedules will be posted in early May.
