PUBLIC NOTICE
WEED CONTROL
The Village of Hewitt does hereby ordain that any owner or resident of any land within the Village of Hewitt, unless specifically exempted, shall destroy all noxious weeds which grow on the property and on any terraces and ditches abutting such property. It is also the property owner's responsibility to cut the weeds along the roadside ditches of their property if their property borders residential homes or lots.
Weeds are required to be destroyed at least twice during the growing season. The first destruction must be done by June 15th and the second destruction by August 1st.
If any owner of private land(s) fails to destroy noxious weeds by June 15th or August 1st, such person shall receive a fine of $50.00.
NOTIFICATION:
If any property owner fails to destroy noxious weeds as required, such owner shall receive a written notice. After ten (10) days following written notice, the Village of Hewitt Board has the authority to employ a person to destroy noxious weeds.
EXEMPTIONS:
A. Persons who maintain a farm within the Village of Hewitt are exempt from this Resolution.
B. Lots uncuttable due to construction or inaccessibility. Inaccessibility is up to the discretion of the Weed Control Officer.
